Welcome to St. James-St. Matthew’s. As we continue to learn and develop our web-page, our goal is to include many pictures of the various aspects of our life together as a congregation. And as you look through these pictures, we hope you notice the many different faces.
The faces in these pictures are images of all sorts of people. Some have come from distant lands, and some have come from right around the corner. Some are families, and some are singles. Some are the elderly, some are in the prime of their lives, some are teens, and some are children. Some are friends, and some do not yet know each other well.
Our faces reflect the great diversity of God’s human creation. We are those who are poor and those who are rich. We are those who have been educated by the experiences of our lives, and those who have been educated by scholars. We are a people who seek to live out God’s will for us in the wide variety of roles and callings that we find ourselves. We are a people whose faces reflect the vast array of ways in which the Holy Spirit continues to fill the church and renew it.
These faces are here, because they make up St. James-St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. We are a community of faces – faces that can be seen singing together, ... and praying together, ... and laughing together, ... and crying together, ... and eating together, ... and working together. But most of all, these faces are here, because they are "holy faces" -- because in each twinkle of the eye we can see a beloved child of God ... because in each radiant smile we can see God’s love working to heal the fallen and broken state of our lives and of our world. So thank you for visiting our web-page
and looking through our pictures. And please feel welcome to join us sometime for worship. We’d love to see YOUR face.
